Those funky days….. ( Takeshi )
This is an Wrangler jacket which I start to feel like wearing these days.
I love almost all Wrangler denim jackets from the 50s through 70s, along with various other brand models. For some reason, my main image for Wrangler denim jacket is…..worn by black truck drivers with some slacks on, not jeans……and the jacket is worn unwashed….in the late 60s.
The reason why I choose this black satin jacket is……maybe it doesn’t really look like denim jacket. The fabric, matching stitch, zippered front….it is not a typical denim jacket, more likely an plain zippered work jacket.
This style is Wrangler’s 2nd model from the late 50s, but they usually come with elastic shirring at waists on regular blue denim version…..but not in the case of this black satin.
I have been eyeing on denim jackets for a while…..trying to see some good timing when I really like to start wearing them on daily basis. So every these year, I dug out some denim jackets and hung on my closet when the season starts.
Yet I did not really wear them as I expected…..maybe a couple of times for the most. So let’s see how it goes this season……( Takeshi )
This exotic indigo jacket was one of the things I have been looking for long time……since I saw it on French ELLE back in the early 80s.
In a topic in that issue, they featured all blue, indigo and white clothes under strong sun on a beach.
Among vintage Levi’s jeans, chambray and some white shirts, this particular jacket caught my eye……probably baeause it was exotic or my DNA as a Japanese……we had traditional indigo workwear in our history.
It looked Chinese because of its front toggle closure, and fabric looks some indigo dyed cotton……but that’s the end. I never seen something like this before.
Luckily I found this jacket at Flea Market in Paris when we went there for Comme des Garcon runway in mid 2000s.
This jacket comes back from time to time……this time, I feel like wearing it with shorts. ( Takeshi )
I believe I found this jacket from the cellar of an old department store in Red Bank, NJ around 1990.
I was so happy because it was already so difficult to find these prewar jacket back then……especially in this New-Old condition.
First thing I did whenever I found something like this was…… checking if it fits me! ( Takeshi )
I bought this jacket from a Militaria Auction back in the late 80s.
It appears to be a cutdown & modified (by USN) version of early flight suit which was popular among USN pilots between WW1 & WW2 era.
That was a time when flight jacket was still an oddball…..flight suit was a major thing to wear when they fly.
I still keep this jacket for unknown reason…..probably because I feel really different unlike anything I own. ( Takeshi )
